Finisce il matrimonio tra Reyer e Julyan Stone: dopo le scuse alla società, ora l'NBA

Le strade di Julyan Stone e della Reyer Venezia si separano, almeno temporaneamente. Dopo le polemiche ed il comportamento non troppo lineare e corretto tenuto dal lungo di Alexandria, la società orogranata ha accolto le sue scuse, arrivate anche a mezzo social, e così il giocatore ha avuto il via libera per accasarsi con i Charlotte Hornets.

LA POLEMICA

Stone, dopo il rinnovo contrattuale, aveva ricevuto una finestra di svincolo, che gli permettesse di essere tesserato, entro un certo limite temporale, da una franchigia NBA, per permettergli di stare vicino al padre, in condizioni di salute precarie. L’offerta è arrivata oltre la scadenza, e da quel momento in poi è montata la polemica, conclusasi con scuse e rescissione.

I am really happy to have reached an agreement with Umana Reyer and must thank the Club publicly for having been forthcoming and thoughtful. Over the past few days unfair and undeserved accusations have hit the Club and I am truly sorry for that. I found myself in a difficult personal and professional situation, which I realize could have been handled better. After an unforgettable season, Reyer and myself agreed on a contract for two more years, which undoubtedly shows how highly I am regarded by the Club. I must acknowledge, to the Club’s credit, that my father’s severe health conditions were known at the time we signed the agreement and for that reason Umana Reyer accepted to grant me an NBA escape until July 9. Unfortunately Hornets’ offer came after that date. As I found myself contractually prevented from seizing such unique opportunity at a time when my father’s conditions had worsened, I felt unsettled and anxious. As a result, I got off with the Club on the wrong foot and somehow credited an inaccurate and unfair account of the Club’s behaviour. Venice could have legitimately demanded that I abide by the contract and that may have prevented me from playing with the Hornets. I am truly, sincerely grateful that, on more reasonable grounds, Umana Reyer agreed to terminate the contract. I apologize for any unintended harm to the Club and its incredible fans. I will forever be proud of our scudetto, honoured to have worn la maglia orogranata and thankful for the love and respect I received during my stay in Venice.

LE MOSSE SUL MERCATO

Sostituire un giocatore come Julyan Stone non è certo semplice, se non impossibile. Poco presente sotto canestro, con una media punti di poco superiore a 3 nella gloriosa stagione dello scudetto, è in grado di trasformare una squadra, alzando il muro difensivo come pohi altri e facendo ripartire la squadra con cuore e grinta. Con i soldi intascati dalla penale, ora la Reyer potrà muoversi sul mercato: per sostituire Stone si parla dell’ex guardia di Pistoia Michael Jenkins e del promettente italiano Amedeo Della Valle.
